New officer in town!

Very proud of my son, he graduated last December with a AA in Criminal Justice.  In August  he started his interview process and testing for a Detention officer position at our local Sheriff's office. In October the long process paid off and he was offered a job!

I made these cookies with the help of Bridget Edwards and her wonderful cookie and royal icing recipes.  See her blog here http://bakeat350.blogspot.com/

This was in October that I made these cookies.  I packaged them nicely in bags and sent him home with several cookies.  While visiting at his apartment one day this week  there on his kitchen counter sat the packages of cookies, which by the way everyone in our house loves.  I asked him why he wasted them he said said "no mom I didn't waste them those cookies were way to nice to eat those are saving cookies" his comment made me feel good but I would have eaten them.

If you haven't seen the book Decorating Cookies by Bridget Edwards you must check it out.  It is the best cookie book I've seen.  She has the best recipes, tips and instructions.  I fell in love with her cookies the very first time my good friend, Janet, from The Army Mom introduced me to them.  She gave me and my girls  private lessons in cookie making/decorating. We have found this to be a wonderful hobby and love spending some time together creating our masterpieces! Each batch we make we pronounce it to be our best batch yet.
These mushrooms are one of my favorites!

New Grandbaby!

I haven't blogged in quite some time as I've been very busy.  My oldest daughter has blessed us with a beautiful grandson! He was born September 25th weighing in at a whopping 8 pounds 12 ounces.  He is cute as can be and I am not just saying that because he's my grandson! Just take a look for yourself:

This is him a couple of days before Christmas, dressed in his Christmas best.  We took him to the Pilot Mountain Christmas Light extravaganza  which was an awesome 4 acres of lights and fun.  He was fascinated by the lights and I was happy to show my little grand elf off.   What a great night we had together!  I always heard grandparents bragging about how great it is to be a grandparent but now I can absolutely agree with that statement.  I love love love this little guy and look forward to the cookies we will bake together and the fun we will have. I am off to download some more pictures of this sweetheart and will be sharing more with you soon.
